Guardiola and Man City getting a helping hand to sit top of Premier League chart

The Etihad Stadium outfit are the lowest scorers in the top five, but their cause has been aided by a division-high number of own goals

Manchester City have not been as free-scoring as they would like this season, even with the

 assistance of their opponents.

Pep Guardiola has been unable to replicate the eye-catching brand of football he oversaw in previous

posts at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

His City side are, however, a work in progress and are expected to be busy again during the summer transfer window.
Added firepower is likely to be on their shopping list, with Guardiola’s side the lowest scorers in the Premier League’s top five.
While that will be a source of frustration, the Blues have benefited from a division-high number of own goals – with Ahmed Elmohamady the latest to come bearing gifts in a home date with Hull City.

Elmohamady’s unfortunate effort at the Etihad Stadium opened the scoring in what had been a tight contest.
Hull City have been in fine form of late, but Guardiola’s side need the points to cement their standing inside the top four.
