The Senior Special Assistant to the President on diaspora affairs, Abike Dabiri-Erewa hinted that the German embassy in Nigeria has intimated her office about the plans to repatriate 12,000 Nigerians who are seeking asylum in the country. She describes the development as unfortunate, adding that 128 Nigerians also died while trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea. In a notice to banks yesterday, the CBN said “Authorised dealers’ accounts with the central bank will be debited in full for the naira equivalent of the dollar bid amount on a spot basis. The central bank will settle the bids through forward settlements of two months,” Also, the apex bank yesterday sold $31.35 million to 3,135 bureaux de change (BDCs), which prompted the naira to appreciate to N393 per dollar in the parallel market. According to President, Association of Bureaux De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON), Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe said that the CBN sold $10,000 3,135 BDCs yesterday, and this boosted liquidity at the retail segment of the marker. Alleged N1.97bn fraud: Why Court struck out  charge against Orubebe By Ikechukwu Nnochiri ABUJA—An Abuja High Court sitting at Apo, yesterday, struck out the six-count charge the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, preferred against former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, over alleged N1.97 billion contract fraud.                                                                             Orubebe Trial judge, Justice Olukayode Adeniyi, also discharged the defendants, after the charge was withdrawn by the prosecution.
