Silvio Berlusconi set for political comeback after Sicily vote

The result adds momentum to the newly formed centre-right alliance. The vote on the Italian island has been viewed as a crucial test ahead of next year's national election. The 81-year-old billionaire businessman's career has been beset by scandals both in and out of government. The four-time prime minister has been away from the political centre stage  since he was expelled from parliament four years ago after being convicted of tax fraud. Mr Berlusconi is seeking to overturn a ban that bars him from public office ahead of the spring 2018 vote. The European Court of Human Rights is set to review his case later this year....

Woman fired for showing Trump motorcade the middle finger

The image went viral after it was taken on 28 October in Virginia, close to a Trump golf resort. Juli Briskman, who was identified as the cyclist in the image, alleges she was fired by employers Akima LLC after she posted it to her online profiles. The company did not respond to the BBC's request for comment. Ms Briskman told US media the firm had called her into a meeting a day after she informed their HR department she was the subject of the widely circulated image. Malaria breath test shows promise

They had already tried out a crude prototype breathalyser in Africa, a tropical medicine conference heard. The test was reasonably good at detecting cases in children, but needs developing to become a routine device. One of the odours it sniffs out is identical to a natural smell that attracts insects that spread malaria. Pine trees and conifers emit these terpenes to summon mosquitoes and other pollinating insects, say the researchers, from Washington University in St Louis. Donald Trump arrives in S Korea with focus on Pyongyang

He flew in from Tokyo, after saying on Monday that  Japan could shoot down Pyongyang's missiles with US equipment. Trade will also be a key focus for Mr Trump, who wants fresh terms for the US-South Korea free trade agreement. He is meeting President Moon Jae-in, US troops and local politicians.
