Abuja Airport Reopens For The First Time In Six Weeks The reconstructed Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport has received its first flight in six weeks as a test flight from Kaduna international airport landed there today, April 18. Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, was said to be on board the aircraft. Recall the airport was closed on March 8 to enable the federal government carry out repairs on the runway. Closure of the airport had sparked criticisms but government stood its ground, saying rehabilitation of the facility was long overdue. A brand new Airbus A350-900 belonging to Ethiopian Airlines is expected to touch down at the Abuja airport any moment from now. Firiehiwot Mekonnen, Ethiopian Airlines’ traffic and sales manager, linked the decision to fly the new aircraft to Abuja to the belief in the Nigerian market. We expect the  Facebook announcements to come quickly, beginning with CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s opening keynote on Tuesday morning. The F8 Schedule Zuck takes the stage at  10 am PDT  (1 pm EDT) on Tuesday. All of the big announcements happen during Zuckerberg’s 90-minute slot. F8 is a developer show, so expect lots of talk about new code releases and tools for building things for Facebook. Of course the annual event generates a ton of news for regular folk too as the company outlines new features and capabilities for the nearly two billion people who use Facebook regularly. Hailemariam Desalegn has said that Ethiopia is able to carry out the investigations itself. Protesters from the Amhara and Oromia regions have been complaining about political and economic marginalisation. The government has imposed a state of emergency in response to the protests. The country was hit by an unprecedented wave of demonstrations, which began in November 2015. International rights groups have said that hundreds of people lost their lives in incidents where police and protesters clashed.
