Vendors who delete negative online reviews or post fake positive reviews face a minimum $30,000 (£23,000) fine. The new law aims to clean up China's internet shopping websites just before Singles Day - the country's busiest online shopping day of the year. Last year's Singles Day saw sales worth almost $18bn (£13.7bn) in 24 hours. Chinese consumers placed 657 million orders. China's parliament, the National People's Congress, is extending a law on disrespecting the anthem to semi-autonomous Hong Kong and Macau. Hong Kong's government, dominated by Beijing loyalists, has begun including it in local legislation. The anthem has been booed at recent football fixtures in Hong Kong, where anti-Beijing sentiment has been rising. Democracy activists fear the new law could be used to undermine freedom of expression in the territory, which enjoys freedoms not seen on the mainland. Vlada Dzyuba, 14, died in China on Friday after participating in Shanghai Fashion Week. Her Shanghai-based agency, ESEE Model Management, said she was a happy young girl who enjoyed her modelling work. Many foreign models in China are from the former Soviet Union. China has laws that allow children under the age of 16 to work in certain industries. According to reports, Vlada began feeling dizzy and fell sick and was taken to a Shanghai hospital on Wednesday. She died on Friday from multiple organ failure after her condition quickly worsened. The Chinese Global Times state newspaper said she died of blood poisoning.
