Puerto Rico: Trump lashes out at San Juan mayor

Media caption Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz describes deteriorating conditions Donald Trump has lashed out at Puerto Rico politicians over their criticism of US relief efforts on the island following Hurricane Maria. The category four hurricane a week ago killed 16 people on the island and left millions in need of aid. In a series of tweets, Trump said that Puerto Rican officials showed "poor leadership ability" and "want everything to be done for them". It comes after the Mayor of San Juan  made a desperate plea  for help. "We have no time for patience any more," said Carmen Yulin Cruz in a news conference. "I am asking the president of the United States to make sure somebody is in charge that is up to the task of saving lives." Twin airline pilots retire by landing at Heathrow together

Captains Jeremy and Nick Hart marked their 60th birthdays on Thursday by landing their planes together at Heathrow Airport. Jeremy from Flitton in Bedfordshire described retiring alongside his brother as "a good way to finish". Nick from Banbury, Oxfordshire, said: "Like every aeroplane has its last landing, so does a pilot." 'Fitting finale' The pair, who have clocked up 45,000 flying hours between them, said they had often been mistaken for each other during their careers but never flown together because they were both captains. The move came as the Spanish authorities stepped up their attempts to stop Sunday's referendum. Police have now occupied the regional government's telecommunications centre. Catalonia, a wealthy region of 7.5 million people in north-eastern Spain, has its own language and culture. It has a high degree of autonomy, but is not recognised as a separate nation under the Spanish constitution. Does Catalonia want to leave Spain? Referendum defies Spanish obstruction Tens of thousands of people are expected to vote in Sunday's ballot, which has been declared illegal by Spain's Constitutional Court. The authorities in Madrid have sent thousands of police to the region to stop
