Osinbajo dares Senate, says Magu is going nowhere
Nigeria’s Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has apparently challenged the Senate to do its worst in the matter involving the Presidency and the lawmakers over Ibrahim Magu’s retention as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s acting chairman.
Osinbajo on Thursday insisted that as long as he remains the Acting President and President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration continues, that Magu will continue as EFCC boss.
The Acting President made the declaration in Kaduna on at the commissioning of the Zonal office of the EFCC.
Represented by Nasir el’Rifai, the Kaduna State governor, Osinbajo stated, “He (Magu) will remain the EFCC chairman as long as I remain the Acting President and as well as Muhammadu Buhari remains the President”.
This is coming at a point the face-off between the Presidency and the Senate over Magus’s appointment seems to be heating up.

Osinbajo had during an interview in April insisted that Magu, whose nomination the Senate on two occasions refused to approve as a substantive chairman of the EFCC, will remain the EFCC boss.
Not happy with that position, the Senate had on Tuesday during its plenary, vowed never to receive any requests for confirmation into executive positions from the Presidency. The lawmakers further demanded that Osinbajo withdraw the statement “without further delay.”
Osinbajo had hinged his argument on the provisions of Section 171 of the constitution.
